• Bernat blanket or baby blanket yarn in five colors (one skein of each). Or use any color combo!

• Fiber fill or similar filling for stuffing

• Safety eyes 15 mm (solid black)

• Large sewing needle

• Size G 5.0 mm crochet hook

For this crochet pattern you will need the following stitches:

• mc=magic circle

• sc=single crochet

• 2 sc in one stitch=increase (inc)

• 3 sc in one stitch= 3sc inc

• 2 sc together=decrease (dec)

• 3 sc together= 3sc dec

• dc=double crochet

All crocheted in the round and using the invisible decrease (decreasing only using the front loops)

Pattern for the head:

Pink cheeks:

1. Mc (4)

Skirt for gingerbread girl:

1. Ch 32, wrap around gingerbread girl and determine if this is the right length to go around her waist. I stretched mine pretty tight to make sure it was snug. You may need to adjust a few stitches shorter or longer depending on the size of her waist.

2. Sc in each stitch starting with second ch from hook, ch 1 turn, switch to other color

3. Sc in each stitch in new color, ch 1 turn

4. 4 dc in first stitch, skip, slip stitch, repeat till end of round

Braids for gingerbread girl:

1. Ch 20, finish off

2. Ch 20 finish off

3. Ch 20 finish off

4. Braid the three strands together

5. Repeat for other braid

Bows for gingerbread girls hair:

1. Ch 7

2. 1 sc in each stitch starting with the second ch from the hook (6), ch1 turn

3. 1 sc in each stitch (6), finish off

4. Take a strand of yarn and wrap around center to make a bow

Bow tie for gingerbread boy:

1. Ch 9

2. 1 sc in each stitch starting with the second ch from the hook (8), ch 1 turn

3. 1 sc in each stitch (8)

4. 1 sc in each stitch (8), finish off

5. Take a strand of yarn and wrap around center to make a bow

To make arm and leg “icing” weave a white strand of yarn through brown stitches
